Established in 2018 as a non-governmental organisation operating in South Sudan with its offices in the Upper Nile and Barh el Ghazel regions. With the head office in Juba, South Sudan.
It was established to help the vulnerable and needy people that were affected by the armed conflicts of 2013 and 2016 which displaced many people across the country, where some of them were hosted by the United Nations in Protection of Civilian Camp (POC) as IDPs, some of them were displaced to other locations within South Sudan and forced others to take refuge to the neighbouring countries, such as Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda.
As a matter of fact, many South Sudanese have decided to voluntarily return to their homes. CHARD has identified that those IDPs and returnees lack basic necessities, such as food, health, shelter, water and sanitation, education and other basic needs. CHARD as CBO and non-governmental organisations think that joining hands with other humanitarian actors and helping the government would increase the best services delivery to affected populations across South Sudan through the below programs;
- Food Security, livelihood, Agro and resilience.
- Health and Nutrition
- Water and sanitation
- Child Protection and Education
- Protection of Orphans and old Aged
- Good governance, peace and capacity building
