Emergency Relief and Non-Food Essentials Program
The Emergency Relief and Non-Food Essentials program is committed to ensuring that individuals affected by crises receive the critical support they need to rebuild their lives with dignity and resilience. By providing essential items such as emergency shelter materials and household goods, we aim to alleviate suffering and promote well-being in challenging circumstances.
Purpose and Scope: The Emergency Relief and Non-Food Essentials program is a cornerstone of our humanitarian efforts, providing vital support to individuals and families in crisis situations. Our focus is on delivering essential household items that are crucial for sustaining daily life and promoting dignity among affected populations.
Objectives:
- To ensure that crisis-affected individuals have access to essential non-food items, including emergency shelter materials, bedding, clothing, and heating fuel.
- To support vulnerable populations, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and vulnerable host communities, by addressing their immediate needs for shelter and household items.
- To establish and strengthen partnerships with other international relief organisations to extend the reach and impact of our services to affected communities, leveraging our position as a local NGO.
Distribution and Considerations: Effective coordination with local authorities and humanitarian partners is paramount in planning and executing NFI distributions. We prioritize needs-based selection and procurement of NFIs, taking into account cultural appropriateness and the diverse characteristics of affected populations.
Clear and culturally sensitive communication is vital, ensuring that information about NFI distributions reaches all segments of the affected population. Safety considerations, including access routes and site security, are carefully evaluated to safeguard both recipients and the distributed items.
Post-distribution monitoring mechanisms are implemented to assess the effectiveness of our interventions and inform future programming decisions.
Core Relief Items (CRIs): As part of our NFI program, we prioritize the distribution of Core Relief Items (CRIs), which are essential for survival and maintaining a basic standard of living during displacement. These items, endorsed by UNHCR operations worldwide, include reinforced plastic tarpaulins, mosquito nets, refugee housing units, multi-purpose sleeping mats, plastic buckets, and kitchen sets.
